Wonder what's next? We have to escort souls or prepare for battle? So far, seems like the "something is lurking inside UW" means "we are using these quests to nerf UWSC", so might wanna stock up on ectos....

To all the people who says it's easy:
I completed this day's quest once and I agree with you with one exception; Bone Pits. If you find it entirely easy, incl. Pits please write a guide how to do Pits, there's many people struggling with Pits and Pits only ^^. I got lucky first time in Pits I think, after that it's been Fail Land for me.
To Anet:
Self-healing and/or hex removal skill would've been brilliant and would make this quest more doable specially to people who don't know the timings/spawns/patrols. The usual challenge aspect that community tends to bring up is not valid here in my opinion, it is Halloween quest, it is suppose to be fun, not challenging.

Today's Halloween quest
Did anyone else feel that today's quest was far too long and boring, especially when comparing the reward with yesterday's. Just completed it and rather than wanting to do it again, I actually felt I had to sign out of guild wars for a little while.
Here's hoping tomorrow's isn't so long and boring.

I'm hoping that this marks a new direction for festival quests/games. Instead having us grind easy quests endlessly for a chance at a good reward, we have a super-challenging quest chain with (hopefully) good enough rewards that grinding it is unneccessary. It at least seems miles above farming grenches for candy canes or hunting down mini polar bears. I'm looking forward to how this plays out.
|
i only hate it because they make it so difficult that if you dont finish the quest you cant do the next part. this was supposed to be a fun quest, heck even the grinding quest the polar bear mini was more fun then this! and no i'm not a veterans. If we had a full slot of skills and was allowed to go in with at least heros if not a group then it would have been more fun. so now i guess its back to farming birdmen for feathers and tot bags for me.

I think the main complaint is it's simply Nintendo Hard (Bone Pits).
Have the minions in the bone pits NOT have their hex bombs and it may work.

Long and painful, I really didn't enjoy it. The quest seemed excessive to say the least.

No you didn't specifically said that, but when you said "And if we do have to do todays to get the next one then anet failed big time", I *somehow* figured you don't want to do this quest and rather skip it. Am I right?
If not, then kind of harsh words to use if you're going to do the quest anyways...
I never said I'm good... I'm just a regular player who enjoys the new content, and finds it a challenge to get through it.
EDIT: No, I'm not familiar with the UW and its monsters/layout.
And I do agree, a hex removal or healing spell would have been helpful.

I think you misread Tom Swift's sentence. Here it is again (boldface by me):

So, what I want to know is, when will these quests disappear? I'm assuming Monday at midnight when the Halloween event closes down, but it'd be nice to know.

^Considering the event ends on nov 2nd I'd say then.
lol pits was frustrating the first few times, but it was an epic 30 min quest. Probably would have been faster if I knew my way around uw but oh well.

On the first run I got hexed and died although I left the agro behind 10secs earlier. Second was much better and did it in 37mins, acceptable for person which goes to UW twice a year
I doubt I'll do it on all toons like yesterday

Apart from the Bone Pits area, it's not that bad. Just run a lot and avoid mobs as well as possible. Failed there on my first try, but got through the second time. A nice quest to show those who rarely visit the UW what it looks like, what the areas are and what foes are running around.
An easy way to make the quest easier would be to add "Mad King's Candy" or something similar, which removes 2 Hexes and Heals you for X HP per Hex. Though that might make it a bit too easy...

FREE ECTOS: Do the halloween quest, use the 3rd skill to KD an enemy and then wand him to death. Best farm ever.

Easy and extremelly long+boring after the first time. Died in bone pits the first time, my fault as I expected it to be as easy as everything else. But whole successful run takes exactly 20 minutes. Going to run 3rd char but wont do it with all 10 for sure.

Pits: I knocked the first few down, used the running skill obviously, used skill 4 at some point, crossed the bridge, stood outside of their agro (knocked 2 down because I accidentally agroed them), used skill 4 again, and ran to the reaper. More or less the same on the way back.
It sounds pretty vague, but do something like that and it should work. Got it on my first try.

Really? Are you kidding? If theres walls/no doors just keep going around until you find some. You can't blame the quest because people don't know their way around. Theres plenty of zones that are a pain to get through because they're all zig zaggy and whatever. Should we make all those at linear as possible for all the carebears who have a little trouble finding their way around? Like I said, big green arrow helps, just try and follow it.

No wai fer realz?
Its hard to rely on skill 4 alone in pits, more skill 3 usage is what got me through.

After 3 tries I finally beat the mission. Even though there were some choice words shouted, in the end I liked the challenge. Lovin' the new lore as well! Hats off!
